Do you have to listen to the timeshare speech or no?

We are going to TTR for our first time on Nov. 6th and have no interest in listening to a 5 hr speech/lunch (according to others) or being pressured about buying into some sort of a timeshare that they offer, especially when we are only there for 5 days so time is very, very valuable to us! I'm pretty sure, first timers want to experience the resort and the services they offer before they invest into a timeshare. Just sounds like good common seance to me. Didn't know if we were gonna get the cold shoulder if we didn't sit through it? Thanks for any info.

 

Did you book as a referral or just through a random travel site?

If you just booked through a random site, then no you are not required to sit through it...although they will probably call it a tour so FYI. Just say no thank you firmly and you should be ok You may need to say it more then once.

If you booked a members referral week then yes you should sit through the presentation unless you are willing to compensate the member for the loss of their referral week ($250US)

You will not be shunned for not attending if you booked to a regular travel site.

AS a newbie this last time we checked in and before they would give us our room card they wanted us to go sit with a lady and discuss the premises and when she got into the premiere spill I just told t hem this was our first time to the property so no way I was even interested in hearing the spill until I at least knew if I like the property or not. She understood was very respectful and after going over the map and rules we got room key,, took all of 3-5 minutes.

 

That is not always correct. It is true if you booked direct with the hotel, through a travel agency or an online site. However, if you booked via a referral, you have a moral obligation to attend unless you are willing to pay $250 to the people who referred you. Unless of course those people told you they didn't care if you attended or not. Its not something anyone can enforce, it's just the "right" thing to do.

 

Yep this is basically all it comes down to, and what you have to do.

It's easy to say NO, when you know what it is you are saying no to. Sometimes people are confused what they are getting you to sign up for when they do the "tour". But since you are already asking the question, your one step ahead of the game.

 

When you check in speak Klingon to each other , theres no way in hell they will even attempt to get you to go see the timeshare /membership / call it WTF you want spiel . Get your key and head to your room . Done .

Sometimes they don't use the word "tour", though. I remember a few times, after checking in at the front desk, the desk agent would refer us to another person (concierge?) at one of the desks. This person is supposed to tell you about the resort, the restaurants, the activities, the themes, etc. They would say "Oh we want to show you all the resort has to offer" - which, yeah, implies "tour" but it isn't always explicitly stated.

By our 2nd visit to Temptation, we'd politely decline "meeting" with the concierge immediately after check-in. Often, they'd still try to hound us, day to day, as we passed by/passed through the lobby. It was one of the few negatives about Temptation for us.

Hopefully they've eased up a bit.
