This is our first trip to Cancun and I know this questions is asked all over trip advisor and the general consensus is Pesos but since a lot of you visit Temptation regularly what currency does the staff prefer....Pesos or US dollars? We are Canadian away so we have to exchange our money to something anyway! Thanks!
I don't think the staff cares either way but we always use the 20 peso bills at the pool because they are waterproof.
From Canada get 20 Peso notes,, they are plastic like ours and waterproof. Every time currency is exchanged it loses value, so why give them something they will have to exchange again ? If your coming from US then USD is fine Both are gladly accepted in Mexico
To put it in perspective 1.00 USD = 12.9753 MXN or 20.00 MXN = 1.54138 USD as of today's exchange rate.
This question basically boils down to do " Do they like money, or money?" The answer is "Si, Gracias Senor." Don't overthink it. They'll happily accept whatever you offer and usually with a giant smile.
If you give them pesos they can spend it with their families on the one day off they get a week. If you give them USD they have to exchange it first. True they probably don't really care but as a Canadian you're exchanging it anyways so why not get pesos. When in Rome... Contrary to some beliefs USD is not a universal currency
