You can log on to www.donotcall.gov and register your home and cell phone numbers, so you will be on the Do Not Call list. Or you can call them at 888-382-1222 Telemarketers will not be able to call and bother you for 5 years.
Found this hanging out there all alone (Sorry, janie). This is a hoax, and here's snopes' take on the matter: http://www.snopes.com/politics/business/cell411.asp Wouldn't have looked around except for my aunt still circulating these.
I did three times...twice by a finance company to whom I was making monthly payments on the purchase of furniture (zero down, zero interest for 12 months), asking/begging for me to use them to finance other things as well. Another by Idunnowho who got flip with me and said I had provided the number as my contact #. I said, 'well, duh'. I gave it in the case of emergencies...not to be used to receive solicitations!
Never have problems with telemarketers on my cell....even at home has not been too bad....mostly just pesky fundraisers who I believe are exempt
Pay the telemarrketers back...when they ask Ms so and so how are you tonight...just blast them. Um I have PMS, my kids are brats, the hubby won't take the trash out and on and on. My nephew did telemarketing and told me they are not allowed to hang up. I have been known to make more than one telemarketer wish he had some other job!!!
