We never have, but the more trips we take to the Caribbean in Sept. (hurricane season), the more I think about it. We've been lucky and always had great weather so far. Just wondering if most travelers buy it.
Nope, never have, and almost always travel in Sept-Oct to both Mexico and Florida. Got caught in Hurricane Charley in Florida in....2004? I think, but we were at Disney World at the Wilderness Lodge, constructed of enormous timbers, and were probably in the safest place possible when it came through. No losses.
All the time Watch for the pre exixting clause If you travel a lot look at premium credit cards that offer free insurance we use a yearly policy from our bank costs about 100 per year per person for 2 million medical and 1500 cancelion , also covers lost luggage ect..
We never did unil we missed Tropical Storm Nicole by a matter of minutes going to Negril a few years back. We have purchased in every time since. Really so from June-Nov.
We do all the time. It actually came in handy in 2011 when we were going to our Oasis of the Seas cruise. Our plane to Ft Lauderdale broke and we couldn't get another plane until the next day, missing out on the cruise departure. The insurance paid for everything, including expensive flight to Bahamas (our 1st port of call). We also got some money back, even though we had missed only a night on the 7-day cruise. Accidents and issues can and do happen, so for about 200$-300$ for a couple, we go all-in on the travel insurance.
Preferences on which company to buy from? Ive seen it for our upcoming trip in Sept. from $65 to $200. Any advice on what to buy?
I am a travel agent. Travel Insurance like all insurance is a Love Hate relationship. I really Hate buying insurance, but life from time to time will present some negative issues that will change our travel plans rather we like it or not. We had planned to return to TTR thru Alpha rooms back in June. Unfortunatly we had to make a last minute cancelation. Fortunately we did buy insurance and were able to recover most of our deposit for our trip. In the past I have had to suffer a complete loss when cancelling a trip. Just my:huhersonal experience.
For us; we buy annual insurance, make sure it has unlimited medical cover, limit for each trip is enough to cover our most expensive trips, baggage, worldwide travel. And we are willing to pay a little more for a company we have heard of, and has call centres in the UK, because if you have to claim it's so much easier talking to someone in your own country rather than trying to claim online. We are unfortunate enough to have had to make 2 large claims, due to our respective fathers passing away on the eve of an expensive holiday. Each claim was sorted relatively easily. Wouldn't dream of going abroad without it :daisy:
