Two months ago was our first trip to TTR. Last year we were at DRM, but wifey wanted to tone it down a bit, so we thought we'd give TTR a try.

When we were there (Nov 10-15) the theme night participation was basically us. I mean, seriously - I'm a self-confessed nerd, and introvert extraordinaire. We went upstairs to get dressed for "animals and ranchers" night, and when we came down, wifey was in a skin tight leopard print catsuit, and I was dressed like a safari hunter riding a giant inflatable ostrich.

I thought it was funny as hell, but we were the only two dressed up at all. Check that - one lady had a zebra print dress on. Whoopee!

Is this normal? I even bumped into the week's group coordinators, and they said they don't like to dress up for theme nights (their words.) WTF?

Is this normal? I didn't expect 100% participation, but at DRM (where everyone goes for the "other" perks) it was 30-60%, depending on the night. The best I saw at TTR was about 20% on white night - because everyone owns a white shirt. BDSM night was a bust (again, except for us) and Cowboy night was a solid "meh."

Just curious what other folks' experiences are at TTR, and if there's a group out there who really gets into the theme nights. If so, when do you go? We need to party with you. 'Cause we landed with a bunch of slackers last time.

    Help?

Or better yet - let's start our own week for those who actually get into the themes.

I can tell you that based on four years of research with the June Junkies, there is a lot of participation for the theme nights. Especially the second week, where we usually put our own twist on the theme. The minority are the ones who don't dress up.

Well, everyone we met was nice, but there was definitely a party vibe lacking. I don't know if it was just because it was November, or that we were looking for a different vacation, or what.

I guess I'm just trying to figure out what was missing. DRM had a much better evening scene, but maybe that's just because everyone was trying so hard to get into each others' pants. We expected TTR to be even more partying and crazy outfits and questionable (i.e. fun) behavior than DRM, and fewer outright sexual propositions, but it kinda fell flat.

Again, I'm not scolding anyone, because I'm a really boring person.

Well it sounds like y'all would fit right in. Check out the planning thread. We are already planning the day (pool) and night themes.

I do think there is a lot more talk then participation sometimes. Maybe the people that planned on dressing up the most, party too hard that day and don't make it out. (I know that has happened to us a few times, and I have completely unused costumes)

But it really does depend on the week. My first trip was mid-Sept and we only had the most basic of theme stuff(white, red, lingerie) . Our second trip, also mid-Sept, had more participation. We also knew about this site then, so we were more prepared. More people knew one another that trip, and there was more crazy stuff. Again though it was like many of the CCC were dressed, but still less then 50% of the resort was was in costume. On my third trip the second week of May, many more CCC members and more costumes. But still it wasn't like everyone was dressed.

If dressing up in theme stuff is a priority, then you really need to time your trip to go with a big time repeater group of CCC members.

Agreed ! Participation was definitely lacking !

We just returned from TTR, being there XMas thru NYE. While the hotel has its evening themes, the forum looked for someone to organize the CCC folks themes, both day & night themes. So I did that and also prepared a guest list for the Dec 1 thru Jan 5 with photos as well. It was A LOT of work.
While there was a decent amount of suggestions and input, we had a published list of theme nights for us CCC members. Unfortunately we saw hardly ANY participation for the CCC themes day or night, and not much participation in the TTR themes at night. Lots of cash spent on outfits that ultimately were never worn.
We have been there as June Junkies as well, and I can say the participation level is EXCELLENT. (both day and night themes). Dawn & Curtis do a GREAT job at organizing the themes, and the group is very good as well.
While we met some great couples, and some singles too, which we will stay in contact with, I can say our next trip to TTR will be as JUNE JUNKIES again if at all possible.

We went over Thanksgiving and didn't pack any outright costumes because we didn't know about it. We had the right colors but that was it. I was able improvise with lingerie and have some fun with it. But our trip April 12 to 20 we will both have better stuff! The CCC group was in awesome costumes with a lot of participation. I believe the April addicts dress up...I hope so!
