I haven't been to Temptation yet, and I just saw this review of Temptation dated 3/8/2010 on TripAdvisor.com, and was wondering if this section of the review has any accuracy to it: *You are not allowed to order rooms services if you are not a premier member, or eat in the resturants with a reservations (so that means you can only eat off the buffet, (chicken, water down sour cream, old bacon and sausage) I hate this place) *Beware of "the tour of the resort" it's not a tour, it's timeshare representative. If you don't buy a timeshare with them, you are no longer a welcome guest* I'm having a hard time believing any of it, but can any of you with experience at Temptation comment on the reviewer's quote?
Some people just like to whine. If you make your reservations early enough (by 10am?) you should be fine for a few days in the fancy restraunts, I think you can reserve out to 3 days ahead. I on the other hand have the premier thing and can book my restraunts for the whole stay as soon as I arrive but I usually am happy enough to eat off the buffet or have the late night burgers. And that food is fine in my opinion.
Like canadian just said, some people on tripadviser just like to bitch, I have the premier membership too, but this trip in april im not even using it, thats how comfortable i am with the resort itself....as he said you can make reservations for 3 days at once.... and nine times out of ten, if you show up later on and ask for an opening, tip the door guy and the staff you will get in....this year im going on a normal reservation cuz it was cheaper and being a simple guy like myself, the premier isnt that big of a deal....have no worries about food, theres plenty of it and good stuff.
This is how it worked two weeks ago. No reservations needed for Tex mex or seafood ala carte or obviously buffet. Reservations needed for Asian and Italian. You make your reservations between 10am and noon at the seafood restaurant. You can make reservations for the current day PLUS three more days. So I went on Thursday and Thursday and Friday was sold out. Booked saturday and Sunday. Then Thursday night I gave the host $10 at the Italian for a table and Friday we did the buffet due to a long day of partying. It all works out. Nothing to stress over.
True enough about the no room service except for premier members, but you have room service for continental breakfast if you want. Just put the card out on your door the night before.
Hey My fellow Doctor in crime... You are a premier member? Have you ever rented one of those private boats by the beach? I heard they are ~$300 for about 4 hours. Is it worth it?
Good afternoon Doctor, Yes they can be very worth it sometimes, ive only actually rented it twice with friends, once it was just a few of us guys and though it was fun, not really worth the splitting it 4 ways, would rather save the money for a booze cruise, however, last time we were able to meet some couples that we were having a blast with, we put 3 couples on it and one single girl and myself.... booze and ocean and sun, music, for that time it was fun and worth it, we had a blast that time....
As I recall that same trip report on TripAdvisor stated it took 5 hours to fill up the jacuzzi's in the room. Now, in what world does it take 5 hours to fill a bathtub...were the mexicans bringing in glasses of water from the buffet? Crazy. We found that after making reservations the first day for a few nights we were able to talk our way back into the restaurants later in the vacation. It probably does not hurt that we tip well though. I am a pretty picky eater (there is great food where I live and I expect everyone to be up to these standards) but the buffet is well stocked if a little bland and they are always cooking fresh food to order. Try the Italian or the Asian restaurant. It is worth going even late at night (just go get a snack at the buffet). Very good food.
