Hola! So wife and I (53/52) are new to this and she is definitely setting the boundary at soft swap and only if we meet the right couple - no single men. We have a little bit of an exhibitionist side but nothing like doing it on the beach for all to see. Probably not going to get in an orgy either. We are considering booking one of the Desire resorts for March 6 but trying to decide which one and if we should split time at another resort. Booking for 7 nights. We are foodies and we do love being on the beach. Don't want a hard core party scene with music blaring and megaphones blasting either. Like an elegant atmosphere. With that in mind, what would y'all suggest?
You sound perfect for Desire. You don't have be be a full-on swinger or swapper or exhibitionist. A little of a naughty side will do and the resort is great for opening up your boundaries. You can play it safe and test the waters as you please. With that said, either RM or Pearl would be great locations. Personally, I would pick one and stick with it for the week. It's a hassle to pack up and leave. It's also nice being around for the week because you get to know the other guests pretty well. We love both RM and Pearl but they have slight differences that affect our preferences: We like Pearl better for their ground-level disco and ground-level jacuzzi. At RM, they are both rooftop. The rooftop is nice, but going up and down stairs, sometimes in the dark, sometimes while inebriated and in high heels ... not the best idea. We like the jacuzzi at Pearl better. It's circular and the beds are neatly positioned around it. The RM jacuzzi is a jagged rectangular L-shape. The beds are mostly off to the side, out of view. We like the food at RM better, especially the late-night food options. It was hard to find late-night food at Pearl. We basically had to ask an employee passing by, who went inside the Pearl restaurant to fetch a chef. The chef came out and asked us what we wanted. He then went back inside while we waited outside, awkwardly. This is the area outside the Pearl restaurant, also outside the lobby area, so there isn't much to do while you wait. After about 15 minutes, he brought us out the pizzas we ordered. They were not good. I thought there was no such thing as a bad pizza, but I was wrong. At RM, there is an outdoor bar that has a pizza oven and maybe a flat grill. You can sit at the bar, get drinks, watch TV and order pizzas, tacos, and IDK what else, but they make it right in front of you. It's nice that you can sit and chill with a drink, watch a game, chat with others... it wasn't like that at Pearl. We like the rooms at Pearl better. Granted, we always opt for the cheapest rooms. The lower end rooms at Pearl far exceed the lower end rooms at RM. I can't speak for mansions, fancy suites, etc. We think the overall crowd at Pearl is older, more 50s-60s, whereas at RM, more 40s-60s.... Of course this will vary week to week, but that has seemed like the overall demographics every time we've gone. Don't get me wrong: the folks we've met at Pearl in their 60s (and maybe up) can party their asses off and teach everyone a lesson or two. But again, either resort is wonderful and you should have a great time no matter which you pick.
