We have been noticing a few people splitting their time between TTR and Desire. It will be our 3rd trip in May and looking into hitting Desire for a day or two at the end of trip. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions for what days are better, best way to get there etc. Thanks for your help.

We will let you know soon enough, we are doing TTR for 5 days at the end of January and then DRM for 2 nights. I booked the latest flight to leave Cancun that day so I can get most of the day there.

We are going to TTR May 4th to the 10th and then Pearl from the 10th to the 14th. It will be our first time splitting it up. We booked our transfers from airport to TTR, TTR to Pearl and back to the airport with USA Transfers through this site. I belive it was either $105 or $110 US for all of it for 2 people. You get your own van so you don't have to ride around to drop off people at other resorts. [emoji631] [emoji482]

We finished our trip in October with two nights at Desire and loved it. I doubt we'll ever do another trip to just TTR again. Having a few days to just chill and catch up on rest before coming home was nice.

Just a heads up, I believe that there is a 2 night minimum for Desire. I've never stayed there but I am pretty sure I remember reading that on the forum.

We have split up our TTR/ Desire vaca a couple times. We love it. We have gone to Pearl only. I think the weekend would be a good time to be at Desire. We use USA Transfers to go Airport-TTR, TTR-Pearl, Pearl-Airport. Never had a problem

You actually can book for 1 night only sometimes via cheaptickets or a discount site like it for midweek. We have done so when adding a night to our existing reservation as you really do need to try it out for more than one night to get the full effect. The Desire website requires a min 2 night stay.

As for when. We have found Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights to have the highest occupancy and therefore have more going on.

As for transfers we have done the 3 leg USA transfer trip for $105 mentioned above and the taxi ride from TTR to desire with USA Transfers to and from the airport. The advantage of the 3 leg USA transfer trip is cost. The disadvantage is you have to decide what time to schedule the transfer in advance. We recommend having bfast at TTR and taking the transfer at 10am ish. But what if you go real hard the night before or need more time saying your good byes or want to go even earlier due to weather? We like having the flexibility so go the taxi route. Don't pay in usd!!! The taxi drivers use a 10:1 conversion rate. So the 600 peso taxi ride will cost you $60 usd. If you first exchange your money at the front desk at 15:1 then you will only pay $40 usd. Hope that helps.

We stayed 2 nights (Fri/Sat) at Desire at the end of our last trip to TTR. It was off the charts good. lingerie nite on sat could have been called 99% naked nite. It was amazing to say the least. Def a more chill crowd - not quite the frat party that TTR delivers, but still a party.
