I see Desire Cabo has been sold. I'm surprised in a way, but in a way not. Apparently the resort seemed to be caught in a nether world as to its identity. So now it's gone. I wonder if Original Resorts will be selling any other properties.
Effective June 1, 2013, they have leased their Cancun Sea Adventure property to another resort operator for the next 5 years. They still will own and operate the nearby Marina Hacienda del Mar.
I'll be right next door to the Desire property in a week (June 29 - July 4), at the Barcelo. Will see what I can learn about what the new format is for the resort. Sure glad I didn't book Desire!
Okay, have just returned from the Barcelo Los Cabos, which is right next door to Desire. The Desire property is completely shut down and gated, and they were hauling out mattresses and doing construction over there. According to the Barcelo staff, it's having a major overhaul to become...wait for it...A FAMILY RESORT. Eeep! What a waste of the amazing 100-person rooftop Jacuzzi! Maybe they will turn it into a kiddie pool lol.
We were there in May and really loved it. The staff were all great and while a bit nervous about clothing optional, we dove right in. We hope there are plans for another Desire Cabo (it's an easy flight) Otherwise we will be going to Desire Cancun.
I wonder what it gonna be of Desire after Hedo is finished with rebuilding the rooms and also brand new rooms. Seems like they are trying to compete with each other. I maybe wrong, since are in different countries and different crowd. That's sad that Desire Los Cabos is no longer open, I really wanted to go there. Maybe they sold it because of the Pearl?
Yes we were there last September and loved it, so sad that it is no more , we are headed to hedo for November but are looking at desire Cancun again or perhaps possibly pearl for the first time
