Is it possible to deposit US cheques into Mexican bank accounts here? Anyone know what the process/fee is?
Good luck with that one! I think you'll probably need a special dollar account. I make sure all my dollar cheques are sent direct to the UK and deposited there. It might be best if you could arrange something similar.
Damn, that's what I figured. I only have a Mexican account and they won't do direct deposit or PayPal, cheque only. Grrrrrrrrrr. Thanks Steve. :S
Maybe best not take my word for it. We looked into it briefly about several years ago Half the problem is actually receiving the cheque in the first place with the postal system. Have you asked if they would do a wire transfer? You may have to pay some fees but there'll be fees involved whatever way unless it goes direct into a US dollar account.
I have a Bancomer account as does my neighbor. We both deposit personal checks into it without problems. 10 days to clear.
Interesting that E. B. has deposited checks. That is good to know, however I was suprised to hear this being you cannot deposit cash. I use banamex and wonder if I could deposit check with them. That would be great for me.
Called Banorte (my bank) and they said I could deposit a US check into my savings account, but it would show up in pesos. Which is fine because I prefer pesos anyway!
mexican banks will rarely take a us bank cheque, you need to have an account there with about 3 times the amount of the cheque, & only companies can have Accounts in mexico in dollars. However the main Bancomer branch on Av Tulum has a foreigners division, they can open an account for you in Houston, you deposit in that account thru the Bancomer Branch here, i would imagine then u could withdraw the $$ from a bank machine
