Can anyone tell me if there is a Departure Tax that is being collected on your departure out of Cancun?
Nope, never experienced that. You just have to make sure you have your tourist card with you or they won't let you leave. You are given that to fill out on the plane on the way down and they stamp it and give you a section to keep and present when you leave.
I believe Europeans have to pay , For us Can. folks we pre pay with our flights, hence the confusion. Cuba used to collect at the airport
There is a departure tax. Everyone has to pay it, but for those from the US or Canada it is already included in the cost of your flight - so you wont notice. Traveling from the UK on a charter it is not included and is collected when you leave. Traveling via BA or Virgin on scheduled flights it will be included in your ticket cost.
How much is the departure tax at the moment I wanna know because it was like 750 pesos last feburary wanna know if it's go up or down.:uk1:?
Not sure, I don't depart very often and when we do it's always included in our ticket. I don't think it's changed much if at all from your last trip, maybe another Brit can confirm.
Sept 2011: £40 April 2012: £45 Then I realised flying Virgin was actually cheaper with 23kg, departure tax included, unlimited free drinks, lots of free meals, 150 movies to choose from, proper comfy seats, double decker Boeing 747-400. I LOVE VIRGIN even better than BA! I flew with them in October 2012 and they gave me a discount using the airmiles accrued during that flight for my March 2013 flight. No contest Oh and did I mention, hardly any kids on the flight! Peace and quiet!
I know I'd feel terrible if they said I can't leave... Did I mention that I was working outdoors in -20 degree temps last week?
