Okay all set to book Feb 25 - Mar 4, need help deciding on Deluxe room or Deluxe OceanView. Does OceanView translate to a better room or are we better off trying to upgrade when we get there??? We've read in a number of other posts that it is fairly easy to upgrade as the resort. Anyone had experience with this? :lotsofmichaelfs:
I think the rooms are about the same but deluxe rooms are usually ground floor and have a view of the road or other buildings. We don't spend a lot of time in our room but I must admit I enjoy looking out at beach and ocean. It sure beats the hell out of snow and ice
we downgraded this year from ocean view last year, going to see how it turns out, we dont spend a lot of time in our rooms at all.
Deluxe is all the rooms that are NOT ocean deluxe or jacuzzi. (The largest majority of rooms are called deluxe) Note- all my deluxe rooms were on the 2nd or 3rd floor. You could pay for ocean and only get a small glimmer of it. That happened to me and it sure was not worth the extra $
we have just asked to get a room facing ocean. Dont always get the best one, but they put us up on 3rd floor and can always see part of the ocean. We have been there 16 times and I think that helps also
If you're going to spend a lot of time hanging out in your room, maybe you would appreciate being able to crane your neck and catch a small glimmer of ocean. That may be all your upgrade buys you. Generally, if we're awake, we're not in the room (with a few exceptions). If the upgrade was $1...I still probably would take the Garden View (which may be parking lot view).
Not worth the +$340. Take your chances on getting a decent room by luck. If that doesn't work pull out some $ and ask for anything that faces the ocean? Good rooms are hard to come by when they are booked, if you get a room you hate try again the next morning to see what opened up.
Agreed...we would put the extra money toward a longer stay too! Cheers, Dave & Judy (can't wait for TTR April '14) :flagcanada:
