Anyone ever taken the Delta-Aeromexico flight from Atlanta with the layover in Mexico City?? Its almost $175 cheaper than the Sat. morning non stop. What terminal do you arrive at in Cancun?

I personally think that a non-stop flight is totally worth the extra $$$. Less chance of something going wrong like losing luggage or flight delays.

I would assume that you would arrive at the terminal with all of the domestic flights. I would cut out something else before saving the $175 for the privilege of getting to stop in the Mexico City airport. I have never been there, but my expectations would be that it is a destination I want to avoid.

Its $175 cheaper per person. Around $350 cheaper for a couple. The 8 and 9 am flights sell out very fast. We took the Mexico city one stop way back when we were Spring Break Moms and Dads back 10 years ago (it was $99 per person). You never really left the Delta terminal. However we were part of a group, so it would be completely different at the present. Return flight would be nonstop.

I think $350 is still worth a non-stop flight for all the lost vacation time and risks with the additional stop. We flew the reverse of that coming home one year (Cancun-Mexico City-Atlanta). The Mexico City airport is a cluster f**k in my opinion. If you think Cancun is unorganized with the gate reassignments and everything, you haven't seen anything until Mexico City. The security had no clue what they were doing. You couldn't buy any duty free if this is something you are interested in. And you still wouldn't be able to on the way there because you have to do the 3-1-1 thing again and can't carry it on the plane. They also lost our bags, only time our bags have ever been lost. And let me clarify on this because it is the biggest reason I will avoid the Mexico City airport at all costs. They didn't just loose our bags, they lost over half the plane's bags. They did not load them on the plane. The loaded one baggage cart on the plane and none of the others. Nobody in Atlanta could figure it out either because the people in Mexico City registered the bags. I'd hate for someone's vacation to get started that way. Luckily ours was coming home.

I am flying Aeromexico to Cancun in May and I am leaving at 11:45pm and arrive at I think 10:15am...I save only $50.00 off of a non stop flight, but even though I have to connect in Mexico City, it's a fair trade off as I go through customs there and don't have to in Cancun...the big kicker for me is that I arrive at 10:15am and have a FULL DAY...if I would fly direct it would cost more and I would miss a full day at the Sexy Pool...can't have that!!

You know it all generally will work out. Hey $350 is big bucks, I'd go for it. We are trying AeroMexico Airlines for the first time out of JFK. Saving about the same $ as you. Great times, should be at the resort by noon.
    Good Luck,

Yes, $350 is a lot of $$$$. The Nonstop arrives at 10:30 Am and the one-stop arrives at 11:15 AM (it leaves Atl an hour eariler). Not sure if the 1 hour + layover leaves much time for Customs.

We had great memories of the Mexico City Airport from 15 years ago. My "job" in Cancun was to prevent the High School kids from walking past the "Jack Tarr" resort. It was topless !!!

We did the Mexico City layover in December and it was fine. Didn't seem any different than any other airport to us. No worries.
