Ok, so this may not be new info to some, but I heard that deleting your internet cookies before trying to get travel prices makes a difference. I decided to try it. My flight (before deleting cookies) was $839, I immediately went & deleted my cookies, tried it again, EXACT same flight, $678!!!! This was with Orbitz. Not sure if this is an across the board for all sites, and it didn't make a difference in room pricing, but still, for 2 people, that's a $322 savings. Was also told that Tuesday evening into early Wednesdays have lowest prices too, so I'll be checking that tomorrow. Just FYI since I know every $ counts towards the next trip! You are correct on both counts. Also, if you clear out your cookies AND cache, and keep looking about every hour or so, they seem to entice you to buy by lowering the price farther. This just happened to me a couple weeks ago on Alpharooms. Checked prices for a couple days...no changes. Cleared out everything, and BAM!...price goes down $25 a day. I keep looking every 3 or 4 hours, and it goes down another $10. My wife logged in under a different name on her laptop, and the she got the higher price. They know how often you are checking.
You bet! I work in IT and this is something long known to IT folks but it's never actually been confirmed. Seems too common to be a coincidence, though! Big brother is trying to rip you off!

It was true for us as well. We booked on Orbits and I told a friend about the prices going up a couple hundred dollars from my search a few days earlier. He told me to delete the cookies so I did. Wallah It was back down even lower than before...To bad I didn't know until after I booked (
If you booked through Orbitz, they have a lowest price guarantee... If you find it somewhere cheaper they match the price & give you $50 towards your next booking... saved me about $280 on my last trip to TTR. I had already booked & found it cheaper through Alpha rooms. Orbitz has a link somewhere on their site.
