Okay, so we're doing a split trip this year going to a more vanilla adults only resort in Playa to start our trip, do our tour and culture stuff pre-debauchery. We've got a flight booked that will get us into Cancun at 6pm. I can change to another flight that gets us there at 1 but it's $250 more. Thoughts? I want to pull the trigger but the more sensible half isn't as willing to spend the extra coin. Is 5 hours in Mexico worth $250?
I would suggest by the time you get through the airport and down to PDC you will have missed dinner so better to arrive at 1pm and at your hotel by 3:30 or 4 to enjoy timely checkin with a good choice of rooms, get cleaned up and then have a nice relaxing dinner. That would be worth it. Now onto other more fun decisions https://forum.cancuncare.com/media/decisions-decisions.16680/
Either way. If it were me I'd go earlier flight just so I could enjoy the evening. A 6pm flight, 1 hour so to get through immigration, then time in cab. By the time you checkin and get your stuff set down, it'll be 830-9. You'll be tired, hungry, and probably goto bed. At 1, you could be to your room by 4ish. Early enough to catch a second wind, get dinner, enjoy the evening.
I'd say no it isn't. But I'm cheap $50 an hour is $1200 per day - would you pay $1200 for an extra day?
How much extra to come in the morning before? If possible? If not I’d save the $250 and use it for something else like a day trip or spa maybe.
I'd think that money would be best spent by extending the End of the trip (when you're already at TTR) by one day and still taking the least expensive flight out. Another full day of fun, not just 6 hours or so.
We found a red-eye that gets us in at 1030am. We used to have a similar flight time to yours. By the time you get to your room it's near 8. So it's a decision
nice thing about this trip is our flight doesn't leave until 5:30pm last day and we're planning on USA Transfers getting us to TTR by 10 or 11 our 4th day, so I'm leaning towards holding steady with the flight down. If it was a once in a lifetime vacation I'd pull the trigger in a minute, but reality is we'll probably be back for the wife's birthday next February
