HI, I have just been reading on another site about how dangerous the ocean is at Cancun. It said that there was a lot of sand erosion on the beach which caused big holes etc. It also spoke about sandbags in the water to form a bar to stop the big waves. Is any of this true?
you can look but you better not touch ...... (Line from an old song) one of the reasons I chose Golden Parnassus for our holiday was that it was right on the beach. This will be our first time in Mexico. I never swim out as I can just about swim but I did think we would be able to go in up to our waists etc.
Some resorts have large sand bags to protect their beach area. I think I have seen more of the large bags at playa resorts not right in Cancun. We stayed at El Dorado Royal years ago and they have very big sand bags on their beach. I did get in the ocean last year while we were at the Golden but it wasn't to swim more to walk around in and cool off.
It can be rough. There were red flags almost everyday we were there. We went in when it was yellow flags. After about 20 minutes, I felt like I had been at the gym. I was raised swimming in the ocean in north Carolina, it is totally different in cancun. But was still fun
That's all we would want to do, walk in a bit etc. We are going in October for 15 days. Being fat and old I don't want to hang around the swimming pool, I would like to maybe lie on the beach, read a book and have a walk in the sea when I feel like it.
