Hi I'm trying to ship and engine from USA to Pt. Morelos and work out the total cost to see if it is worth it. So Far I can buy the engine online (1500 bucks) and get it shipped to Hyde in FL, who will receive it and ship it down here to Pt. Morelos for about 150 bucks. I'm guessing I need a customs broker here and I'll have to pay import taxes? - any ideas on the cost of this to get it from dock to my hands? or any broker and what they might charge? Thanks in advance to anyone with any knowledge of this! Mat
From our experience today, make sure you put a Mexican sounding name as the recipient. We've ordered cancuncare bracelets from the States 3 times now, first two times with Jannet's name on - no import tax. 3rd time I put my name on it and the tax was 750 pesos on a 300 USD purchase. We had to pay the tax at the Post Office when we picked up the package, and the Post Office clerk said "customs always charge tax if it's a foreign sounding name'.
Hyde has a Customs Agent or Broker here in CancĂșn. Last time I checked they were just off the south end of Nader. Suggest you get the contact info from Hyde.
Brokers are assigned from a pool, generally based on the anticipated arrival date. You might contact Hyde for guidance.
