Any recommendation for where to buy Cubans in Cancun. I hear there are a lot of fakes out there, where can you get real ones and for how much. :anonon't tell customs Married to Heidiho1128

I was very dissapointed as well. Ev and I went to the same shop. It seemed on the up and up but those were some of the driest pieces of tobacco leaf I've ever had in my life. Made me want to go get some swisher sweets....well almost.
The duty free stores at the airport have a well stocked selection. A bit pricier but for those who don't want to settle for the cheap cigars probably worth it.
I always go to the duty free store to buy cigars. I really couldn't tell you the difference between a cuban and anything else, but they do have a good selection of everything. I haven't had a problem with them being dried out either. Funny story, my wife had picked out a small box (4-5 cigars) at the duty free last time she went without me. She thought the price was in pesos and didn't realize until after she checked out that it was in US. She payed $200 for 4-5 cubans, but was too embarresed to try to bring them back
You can buy Cuban's along with silver and other things on the beach from a guy named Freddie. The cigars are good quality and not dried out and from what I have been told from other that have purchased them that there are true cubans (I don't smoke). The price in a wooden/glass case for 5 was around $25 US. We have know him on the beach for a while and he stands behind his goods, ie if something turns (silver), he will make good on it.
Picked up five in a sealed glass/wood box at the pier where we docked in Isla Majeres for the boob cruise, last shop on the right before getting back on the boat for $20 US and was very well pleased!
I have been told by cigar fiends I know that those aren't the real deal but if you are drinking like a fish, they aren't that bad at all.
Yeah, the real problem is telling real Cubans from another cigars that have a Cuban wrapper slid onto it. Every American wants Cubans so everyone sells Cubans even though they may never buy Cubans to sell.... Kind of need to identify a reputable vendor that we 'know' buys Cubans to sell as opposed to someone we know that sells "Cubans". Anyone have any ideas about how to go about that? Jamie
