Cuba and Cancun

    we have been to cuba 2 times and got no Desire to go back. started going to cancun and thats it got hooked. got no Desire to go anywhere else now. so for us its cancun and no where else....lol... but everyone is different.

    It's less than 100 miles away, cant be that much difference in the climate. But I suppose you're comparing beachside Cuba with inland Cancun.

    Steve, Inland Cuba is a bit "higher up", and might be slightly drier there. Perhaps this is best seen from the north side, but the whole Island seems to be a huge mesa. The southern side is lowland, but gets the sea breeze, just like Cancun. I don't think it's any different than Key West, Fla...Cancun may be a few degrees warmer, but not much.

    I was there twice, both times for marlin tournaments, back in the late 70's. There was no airport in Veradero, Hell, the marina was still being built. Funny, but I thought anyone but an American could live there and start a business. Who owns all the resorts and touristy stuff on the southwest side of the island, near Isle of Pines?

    I wonder if we were in the midst of a norte when you were in Cuba. The weather has been super weird (before the latest rains) and super dry and even cool at times.
