    What's up, Cancuncareland?

I was wondering if any of you has a credit card from a Mexican bank??

I have an American credit card, but it's one "Mommy and Daddy" pay for, so it's emergencies only!

I usually pay cash on everything, but I need to get some credit history rollin'!

I've heard from a Brazilian friend that only Santander gives credit cards to foreigners. Any suggestions? Is it hard to get one?

Thanks in advance for all the help.

I have a COSTCO and Banamex.

I had to present my FM3, but also, I assume it helps that my wife(Mexican) opened our accounts in the same bank...

COSTCO I applied "for fun" and they brought it 2 weeks later, my wife's membership probably did its part, but I never had to present COSTCO with any id or similar... Maybe they were desperate? Haha :)

Ill try to get some more details though... Its a while ago, so I dont remember it all, except that it was surprisingly painless.

Jannet has one from Banamex, it's a joint account with my name on there so not sure why I havent had one issued in my name.

It's a good thing to do anyplace to build some credit history, but at the rates they charge here I can't see myself wanting to borrow any money any time soon - so we've not really delved further. I have 3 different credit cards from the UK at far lower rates and much higher limits, so if we ever do need credit that's what we'll use.

I believe as long as you have a bank account and an FM3 you can get one. I'm with Bancomer and the last time I was in I asked about getting one. They said no problem, though I haven't applied yet. Not sure if it's because my account is "nomina" or not.

Oh, this all sounds pretty easy, then! Looks like I'll have to pay on time to avoid some of those nasty interest rates, though. :S

I might just do what Steve did and get a joint one when I get married next month.

    gracias y saludos!
