I have read other sites but Steve's friends have a much better opinion of what we consider a great vacation. Does anyone have any opinions? Thanks in advance!
I hate to be thick, but I'm not sure of what your question is. Are you asking about that particular resort? My guess is that there are Jamaica specific forums to ask that question, if that is what you are asking.
We gave Couples Negril a try June 2011. Everything was OK. Small resort. Best thing we liked were some of the musicians working the beach.. It was OK altogether. Not our cup of tea and we have no plans of returning. The Sandals Grande in Ocho Rios was FANTASTIC!!! But to be honest, of all the resorts we have been to and we do travel often, TTR Cancun was hands down the most fun we have had and the people who go there are AWESOME! We are making plans to return ASAP and hope to also get back there to see our new friends we made in Sept '12.
We have been to BBG and TTR several times. Thanks, that is the perspective we are looking for, the TTR faithful and their opinion of Couples Negril. Thank again.
Apples and oranges.. Temptation is an adult party resort.. Couples is a romantic, honeymooners resort.. They also just bought Breezes Grande Negril, which will be finalized in Nov, supposedly. So they property will be larger. The beach, Bloody Bay, is beautiful. As is seven mile beach which has Couples Swept away. They are higher end resorts with entertainment. But are NOT know for being a frat party. Thus apples and oranges.
Pressed enter too soon. That being said I love to party like a rockstar at Temptation, but I satisfy my soul in Negril at least once a year. Couples isn't on my list as I love the cliffs and other smaller hotels along 7 mile. But I wouldn't mind staying there. Hell I love that they have flags you can put up at your beach chair to get a drink..
Boston Mel hit the nail on the head!!!!!!! I dont feel like you can compare the two resorts either......................my husband and I got married at Couples Swept Away in Negril Jamaica about 3 1/2 yrs ago. It is a very beautiful, quiet, romantic type resort. I would highly recommend if you and your partner desire a place to just be with eachother and re-energize your connection. It was the perfect low key place for a beautiful wedding! My husband and I wreaked havoc with the flags on the beach to order drinks!! If I could figure out how to post a pic on the message here I have a great pic of him in his beach chair with 20 flags around it!! The bar tender guy came up and just shook his head at us!! LOL TTR is a awsome resort that we love but like Boston Mel said its a different type of resort....................more of a crazy party atmosphere where pretty much anything goes. Also Couples is a topless resort but when we were there only 1 little grandma was there with her top off................I didnt feel comfortable taking mine off?! but will be ripping mine off in the lobby at TTR!!!
Thank you all. Exactly the comments we were looking for. We know nothing compares to TTR, just thinkiing of something else. We are getting up there in age (55) but possibly not quite ready to totally relax on vacation. Probably TTR for the 9th or 10th time. Thanks again.
(wife's two cents) Like the hubby said, Sandals Grande Riviera at Ocho Rios was fantastic. Amazingly beautiful grounds. The food was so good and the drinks were plentiful, strong and tasty. We went with my sister and her husband who are a freaking blast. (A couple of nights at Nicole's Disco are burned into my brain forever!) Couples Negril was much smaller and quieter. Also great food and drinks. We went with some good friends who have gone there several times. They absolutely love it. In fact, they just invited us to go back with them this coming summer.....personally, we like something a little more....no, ALOT more, exciting than a piano bar. LOL. So that's not going to happen. The booze cruise was probably the most fun we had on that trip. Small boat, upbeat reggae music, fun and drunken people, and a storm....what's not to love? If you're looking for a quiet, romantic vacation, either one will more than meet your needs. Jamaica overall is a beautiful place to visit and I highly recommend everyone go there at least once in their lifetime. Oh, and the hot tubs are actually hot! Big bonus in my book. But, I have to agree with my husband about TTR being the most fun we've had at a resort. We consistently laughed our asses off EVERY day and night on this trip! Plus there's a very sexy vibe that's unique to this resort. :aktion031: Gotta love that!
