Hi everyone - long time lurker, first time poster.

Looking to go to Cancun the first week or two of April and had a few questions:

    - We are looking to stay at the Le Meridien. I hear they have renovated their beach and it is wider and much nicer than it used to be. Anyone have any first hand experience here? How are the waves and water here? Is it rough/swimmable/warm/cold?

    - We are looking to stay away from all the party scene and the whole spring break activity and this hotel is more luxurious and geared more towards adult couples and families. Will we have peace and quiet? :)

    - Will the weather be nice in general the first 2 weeks of April? Not hurricane season or rainy season?

    Thanks!
    Peter

    Welcome to the boards!!!!!!

The hight of Spring Break is over by then. But then it turns into Easter Break for HS...so there will be still alot of people around. The Meridien is a nice hotel...not a party place. It's a good choice.

All the beaches on the East side of Cancun have been restored. They are fablulous. There are pics all over the boards, so look around. The water there is rough, but swimable. The water is warm to tourists..a little chilly for my blood right now.

The weather should be nice right now, as this is typically dry season, but as I write this, it is raining and a little chilly here. But The weather up north is giving us this crappy spell. It better not continue, so lets say it will be sunny and warm come April. Hurricanes/Rainy Season doesn't start til June.

I hope the weather turns around over the next few weeks. 17 sleeps!

    Thanks for the heads up!

So can you define what you mean by 'rough' water? Having been to other parts of the caribbean, generally there are no-to-very little waves, but some beaches like Destin in Florida have had some waves which are fun but not dangerous. I'm assuming this is what you mean? No red flag days where it is unswimmable, right?

    Thanks so much!

Not sure how to describe rough...other then rough, sorry. There are still people in the water, even when there are red flags. Two weeks ago I was at my Dad's Hotel and saw my first yellow flag...the water on the east side was pretty calm that day. I am thinking with the red flags, the lifeguards will call you in closer to the beach, but won't make you get out.
