Around the world the flow of drugs tends to be from the poorer countries to the richer, and from those countries with the weaker governments to those with stronger governments. Mexico fits this pattern, it seems.

Although a large percentage of drugs consumed in the U.S. are made in the U.S.A, the demand is so great there is plenty of room for foreign producers.

Fifty plus years of the current strategies for dealing with drug use in the U.S. have lead us to where we are today- more drug use in the U.S. than ever, and international criminal organizations- funded by billions of dollars of profit flowing from customers in the U.S.- with power to rival governments in weaker countries.

It's time we took a serious look at finding an alternative to this misguided effort.

Why do us humans love to get f*'d up so much? We've been doing it for probably thousands of years, chewing leaves to get high, making primitive booze, over the years finding new and "improved" ways to get off our heads, what a bunch of wacko's we are :D.

I guess when the human race decides it no longer wants to party for 24 hours straight or get seriously chilled out, the flow of drugs will subside.

I wonder what the demand is now, for foreign pot, in California, since it can now be grown legally, and purchased legally. I mean, I am sure there is still demand for Mexican marijuana, but has the "tonnage" to that state, decreased at all yet? I am sure a lot of other states are watching California very closely right now and if their little experiment works, I expect to see several other states follow suit in the future.

The story of the drugs is a very interesting one itself. I tend to agree with the **V*'s point of view here, considering the flow of drugs from the Golden Triangle via Eastern Europe to the Western Europe and from Central and Southern America to USA and Canada.
There is a law of supply and demand in place even here, understandably. And the demand seems to be growing every year. At least this is what I see on the streets of Toronto, almost EVERY young male or female smokes pot, I walk by a huge office building in North York on my way to the swimming pool, and it STINKS pot by the entrance; many are using Extasy and other kind of **pills** for partying. And ages vary!! I notice more and more 30+ y.o. people smoking pot in an attempt to be cool and withing the mainstream.
I disagree with the concept of letting people grow and use pot (see above about California), since pot smoking only leads to and triggers a Desire to try something harder and more **powerful**, so to say.
All the drug addicts once started with an innocent smoke of pot which later turned into cocaine, LSD, heroin and any other drug shit one can mention here.

Western society somehow glorifies using drugs, at least I see it this way. One has to get drunk, use drugs, party very hard and be generally unhealthy in order to be considered **cool** and **fun**. And if you are not fitting within this picture, then you are a sore loser, **kill joy** and a loner.

The society itself is a lot more accepting to drugs and stuff right now, than it was, say, even 20 years ago.
I can go on and on here, can write tons about corruption in Russia and Ukraine, for example. If anyone is interested-just let me know.
