A friend says you can probably get it at Eurobakery on Yaxchilan, or Cocinarte in Plaza Las Avenidas.
Can't you just use regular heavy string? I have used it for lifting a cooked turkey out of the pan and intend to make another sling this year for that purpose. Now I am concerned but not sure why.
normal string often has other chemicals in it - to be safe it's always best to buy cooking string ensuring you're not going to eat anything that my be harmful.
Not sure you can use any string, only because in Bridget Jones Diary 2, she turned her food blue by using regular blue string. But don't pay attention to me, because sadly that's all I know about cooking with string.
