From several trip reports, forums, and pictures on this site, I get the idea that this resort is probably not for my wife and I. We are probably on the upper edge of the age range, but I was seriously thinking of surprising her with a short trip here. The more I read, the more I believe we'll find somewhere else. Questions: 1) Are there many single couples there? Seems like everyone is from a group that has visited before. 2) Sounds and looks like a lot of single drunken males traveling in packs. Is that true? 3) Do they play music or that whump, whump techno stuff really loudly? 4) Is the quiet pool quiet...topless?
My wife and I made our first trip two week ago, we are mid-40's and I would say that the majority were in the 25-55 range. There was even a older couple, 80's, that was there enjoying their time (it was very sweet). There were single guys there, yes, but seemed well behaved, and never bothered us or anyone else I could see., My wife and I were also cautious, my wife particularly as we weren't sure what we were getting into.. .let me be the first to say not only did we have an absolute riot, we can't wait to make a return trip. TTR is like a National Lampoon Frat Party with harmless adult fun. My wife (who is somewhat conservative) by day2 was already comfortable and at ease (I think the Boob's Cruise had a lot to with that ) We met some wonderful people there, and everyone was a blast to hang around and simply have fun. As for toplessness... yes there's quite a bit of that, but let me say that after the first hour you don't really even notice it. And there's no pressure if your wife is uncomfortable with that. Use this forum to meet people beforehand, and I will guarantee before you know it, you'll be knee deep in fun and conversation from people you meet via this forum.
Thanks for the comments. We are far from prudes, but not sure I we can stand 16 hours/day of techno music.
they change it up some, but truthfully, your usually in the sexy pool meeting people and chatting, and it goes in one ear and out the other. if it does get too intense, head for the beach, or the quiet pool. no one hates techno music more then me, I'm a rocker through and through, but, it didnt bother me.
The reason the people u saw were in groups was because one day they were just like you (and us our first trip). Timid and unsure. Then they went and met people and loved it. Thi is going to be our third trip and people we met from the first two are meeting us there. Some from April and some from September. U will be head over heels in love with TTR..but if ur not when you go home you can at least say you have tried it. But I don't see that happening. And yes the quiet pool is topless optional as is all three pools
3 pools? Besides the sexy and quiet, what's the other one? Is there a warm hot tub, or is it just swirling water? What beer is served there?
The activities pool is the third one. Dos Equis lager - green label is the beer. (You can find more out of the resort of course) There are hot tubs too
We all were newbies at one time and met people shortly after arriving.. we're mid fifties, have been there 7 times and are now looking forward to our 8th trip in October. Third pool is the sports pool. Now open at night. No warm hot tub, but there are rooms that have jacuzzis on their patios (rooms surrounding the quiet pool on the first floor). And the only beer is draft Dos Equis- although you can go to any local stores and buy your own favorite flavor and bring it back to the resort...
it's not called techno music (techno music disappeared in the mid 90's) it's called House Music. Who calls it techno anymore ???
