rdubnpk Any college football (American version) fans out there? Who do you think is going to win the national championship. I would have to go with Auburn. No one has been able to stop Cam Newton, yet.
i tend to agree i think aubrun will more than likely win but the real loser is not gong to be oregon it is going to be all of the true college football fans who have to take it up the ass and let the computer decide on our national championship game interesting note here not only is this the only sport i know of where an actual championship game is decided off the field of play................ie there is no type of playoff system it is the only sport where there is truly no national champion - not even the organization which handles college football year round (ncaa) acknowledges or declares a national chanpion in the sport of football at the division 1 level very sad and pathetic rob
Against my own advice (I tend to be the "Kiss of Death" for any team that I pick), I too am thinking Auburn. Oregon's only big win this year was against Stanford and I don't think the Pac10 is nearly as strong as the SEC. But we shall see. I was convinced that USC was going to steamroll Texas in 2006.
rdubnpk Couldn't agree more about the lack of a playoff system for DIV I college football. Also seems that, inexplicably, coaches from many of the major colleges are adamantly against it.
It still comes down to the bottom line. There is so much money in college football that the haves do not want to share with the have nots. My son went to Penn State. He said that the first home game at PSU pays for all athletics for the year at the school. That's a pile of dough and none of the big boys want to share. That's what excludes the Boise's and TCU's from playing with the big boys.
rdubnpk I don't see how a playoff wouldn't create even MORE income. Nor can I see where the existing bowls couldn't be incorporated in the playoff process. You could say the teams are all beat up after the end of the regular season, but the other college divisions seem to muddle through.
I agree it would create more income, but it would also force the majors to accept the Boise's and TCU's and Miami of Ohio's of the world into their exclusive club. That is something that is long overdue.
rdubnpk Not a lot of interest in college football. I think all the guys have fixated on Stephanie's Miss Temptation thread!!!
