I posted this in the Cancun forum but haven't gotton any responses. Maybe some of you locals can help.

    Hi all.
Faith and I are coming down next month for our 9th time.

The first few years we did most of the organized tours.
This year we want to try some new things.

Maybe Coba and a cenote and Tulum (not the ruins) and a cenote.
We are willing to rent a car for a couple of days but I was wondering about the collectivos.

I know they can get us to Tulum. Are there any cenotes along the way to get dropped off?

Any info would be helpful or any other suggestions

    5 weeks and counting.

Not a local, but I can help a little.

There are a bunch of cenotes along 307 between Cancun and Tulum. If you know which one you want to stop at and a general idea of where it is the driver of the collectivo will stop.

http://www.travelyucatan.com/div-2.htm Good info about cenotes and descriptions of some.

Are you looking to go to the beach area in Tulum? Or the Pueblo?

    Thanks

    Thanks for the reply.

We're thinking of Tulum Beach or both.
Akumal is another option and closer.

I'm just starting my research on the cenotes. Need to go back and look at some trip reports. Also, a new set of MapChick maps are on the way.

I know there are some highly reccommended tours from PDC but they leave quite early  and that would be a pain getting there on time.
