We just realized our Temptations vacation puts us there over Cinco de Mayo. Knowing that it's just another excuse to drink here in the U.S., does the resort or the CancunCare Community do anything special for the occasion?
True if you mention it to any of the staff members they'll wonder what the hell you're talking about.
We were at DRM during Cinco de Mayo last year. It was completely unremarkable. It's an American excuse to drink margaritas. I think it's about as noteworthy as our Flag Day in the US.
There is a holiday that stems from the date and its called " The Battle of Pueblo" this I learned was when the Mexican forces beat a much stronger French force on May 5 1862. The Mexican population celebrate this holiday but if you just call it Cinco de Mayo they'll give you a questioning look.
If we decide to come down for my birthday we can turn it into a big holiday...seeing as how my birthday is Cinco de Mayo!
