While Cancun tonight is waiting for Hurricane Paula to pass there is some other good news. Frankly it's amazing. Below is a link to CNN of video of the first of 33 miners to be rescued after nearly 70 days underground. Assuming everything keeps going well October 12 and 13 will be remembered as two incredible days! Video - Breaking News Videos from CNN.com
watching it on the BBC, they have a live link too - 7 miners brought up to the surface so far, considering they've been down there for over 2 months, they are looking remarkably healthy
Being a miner myself, I found the whole thing to be the most awesome thing ever. I don't do the underground mining thing, but I do find myself underground quite a bit in conveyor belt tunnels and what not. I was in one of the tunnels the day of the rescue thinking how scary it would be to be trapped in one. And they are only 20-50 feet underground. I hope the miners get the peace they deserve during their recovery, and take some time to appreciate life before heading back underground again.
