We're newbies to Mexico and would love to check out some Mayan Ruins. Anyone have a preference for one over the other? And for tour companies - is it best to book before leaving for Cancun, or while we're there? What do you think?

And where the heck in Atlantic Canada can we get alcohol infused whipped cream?! :icon_razz:

We did a private tour of Chichen Itza through USA Transfers tour site, it was wonderful and we spent the time as we wanted at each stop. The tour also included Ek Baalam and a cenote. The private tour was much better than the organized tours. We like Tulum as well, but the ruins are not as dramatic. However it is the only ruins on the ocean. Save Tulum for when you are staying in the Playa area, you can also add Coba on that tour.

Chichen Itza sorry can't compare we haven't been to tulum, I would recommend chichen Itza but know that its pretty much an all day trip, leave early in the morning like 7am and not back till about 10. However I'm really glad we went if you love history you'll love this place. I would love to go back but like I said its an all day trip and don't like being away from the resort that long. We booked ours at the resort but that was before we became members of this site. So I'm sure others will have more to say about that.

    Chichen Itza - hands down!

We've done a lot of checking, and believe Chichen Itza has a lot to offer - haven't been there yet but it's on our list of things to do when we get to TR in August on the 27th... We've booked already, as we plan to spend all the time we can getting to know lots of new people, as it will be our "virgin voyage" to Temptations...lol!

Hi! Thanks for all your replies - we're leaning towards Chichen Itza, as per most reviews/advice, just a matter of finding the right deal now. :)
