If I put resort towel and a t shirt on a chair in the morning to save a chair will i have to worry about someone taking my shirts so they can get a chair?
No, people do reserve chairs - just be sensible about it. Only reserve a chair if you're going to be there at some point in the morning. It's not fair reserving a chair at 6am if you have no intention of using it until the afternoon.
Don't worry about reserving one. There are always a lot of empty chairs. But,, every one of them will have a towel or t-shirt or shoes or a book or suntan lotion, sunblock, seashell, brand new cowboy hat, sunglasses, whatever on them. What they won't have on them is a person, for hours and hours, maybe even days. What the pool will have though, is some of the most fun people you will ever meet! We can't wait to return ASAP, with or without a chair! Have a great trip!
I really don't like that people put a towel on the chair at about 7am, go and have breakfast, go back to their room and have a sleep and finally emerge some time in the pm to their chair right by the pool, so to answer the original question; yes you can put a towel on the chair and it will probably stay there all day...but you may get people ranting about you on the forum!
We found that if we didn't 'reserve' our chairs at the sexy pool, we might not have one to use that day. One of us would go out and do this around 0700, then head back to bed for a couple hours. But we were usually at the pool by 1030 at the latest. We also discovered that putting a tee shirt on the back of the chair was a great way for us to remember where our seats were. They also covered the chair where our heads & shoulders rested on them. =)
As I've said before.... there are "no reservations" on pool chairs. You might think bystapling your towel to it that its reserved. But just like on the bus.... if you get up from it I may sit in it and then when you come back be polite and you can probably have it back
We had a wake-up call at 5am everyday to get a chair - Resort was at 95+% capacity - most people grabbed chairs around 2-3am when Paty'Os closed we think as at 5am the chairs were 90% taken. Some big groups would grab 12 at a time. We saw T-shirts, caution tape, headbands with names written on them wrapped around the chairs. Towels, books, sandals, beach bags placed on top. We were always out pool-side by 9:30- 10am. We had our stuff moved a few times, we still had chairs but moved 4-6 spots down a direction so others could grab 4-6 in a group. Others we know had there spots moved too. One day we grabbed 4 and our group ended up being split apart? Most folks did not arrive to the pool until 11am-noon. Its a horrible system.:ranting1:
See I like this... Me, I get back from the clubs about 5 AM, go up to the room and change into my suit and head for the pool to get my chairs. Then I am in or around that chair from 5 AM till 3 PM unless I'm getting food or in the pool. One year a lovely lady decided that since I was in the pool not 5 feet from the chair and she didn't have one, she could throw my stuff (literally) on the deck and plop her fat ass down. As you can probably tell I took exception. So a few points come to mind. 1) If you’re not coming out till afternoon, don’t reserve a chair, you’ll find one when you come out, trust me. 2) If you get up early, only reserve the chairs you need, we usually do one per couple and they are usually filled so we’re not wasting. 3) If you see some folks stuff on a chair, don’t mess with it… it only leads to people being pissed off on vacation. 4) You know the game; if you want the chair get your ass out of bed. If you want sleep more, find a towel bitch (someone else that is willing to get up to get the chairs) or hang on the beach till one comes available around the pool. Making all about you runs the real chance of lots people not enjoying their vacation. 5) If you just need a place to stash you stuff while you hang at the swim up bar all day (like IceCube in May) then ask someone if you throw your stuff on or under their chair. That’s my two cents… Used to be that Security collected anything left before 6 AM that did not have a warm body with it. That kept folks from going out a 3 AM to reserve chairs and going back to bed till noon. I think that was the best solution ever. Actually met a get great couple that dropped at 4 and came back at 7 to find me in their chairs. I didn’t know about the new rule, and neither did they. Lead to a couple of tense moments till someone that did know the rule spoke up. They thought I tossed their stuff and I kept saying that the chairs were empty when I got there. Needless to say, we made room and for the next week we partied at 5:30 – 6 every morning. Wish they would bring back that rule. Jamie
