For those of you who are not aware, the world hockey junior championships are being held here in Buffalo this week and next. The top 10 hockey nations of the world have all sent teams and it should be a great tournament. Canada knocked off Russia yesterday and the US snuck by Finland, so it could come down to Canada/US again this year, but the Swedes look very strong also. If any of you get a chance to come down for the games, enjoy the wings and beef on weck and have fun.

Actually it is a strictly Buffalo thing. It's a German kummelweck (not sure of the spelling) roll covered with thin sliced roast beef. Some like to add a good helping of horseradish to the mix. The roll is a hard roll with a type of pretzel salt on it. I'm sure it's not good for those with high blood pressure, but it sure does taste great.

    What??? No biscuits and gravy?

My mother was from SC and one thing I could never develope a taste for was grits. Come to think of it, I never developed a taste for chicken wings either and I live right here in the chicken wing capitol of the world.

It could get interesting. Canada and the US both have injury problems and Kassian may be suspended for Canada which would also hurt. Russia looks soft and out of it. Swedes look good so it could be a very interesting finish to this one.

I agree. This is an exciting tournament.

Having a quick look at the team stats, the US has been pretty smart about keeping out of the penalty box. Canada has strong scoring power. The Swedes top penalty receiver, Patrick Cehlin, has 16 minutes but he is also a +4 with two goals and two assists.
