How good is the cellphone coverage at TTR, specifically looking at telcel and movistar. I can get a simcard but i want to be sure there is sufficient network coverage. Primarily not for calls but mostly for data use... 3g etc...

Well I hope its good. I bought a SIM for Telcel from mexicosimcard.com. Way better than roaming from Bell Canada...

There is another site called Cellular Abroad where you can rent a cell phone.

I have my secretary set my iPhone up for international service for the week we are there and usually have good signal. Don't know how much it costs?

I have Verizon, I call them the day before and set up the international (Mexico) plan and it costs me the same as I pay now for the plan...calling home doesnt cost extra, text messages to send and receive are like .25 cents or maybe .50 cents a piece...I rarely use my phone in Cancun anyways so my bill is usually a few dollars more than most months

Coverage is fine. Getting a card down there is still the best way for Canadians. There are still no good add ons from the big three for Mexico.
