It would be nice if you got involved with the forum to a greater extent than just coming along and advertising your place. Your last and only other post was a promo for your thanksgiving dinner.

If every restaurant in Cancun posted every time they had a special menu on, then there wouldnt be any room for what the forum is intended for.

I'll leave this to stand this time but please bear in mind for the future.

If on the other hand you (or anyone else) would like to sponsor the forum and/or offer a discount for forum members then lets talk $$ :)

El Padrino's Thanksgiving dinner was excellent and a number of CCers went.

If their Xmas dinner is anything like the Thanksgiving, people are in for a real treat. My MX boyfriend enjoyed his first Turkey Day meal...minus the pumpkin pie, which I thought was out of this world.

Fair enough, Padrinos is a popular place to eat for expats apparently. Personally, I don't know it. But that doesnt exempt anyone from the 'rules' of not promoting commercial activities here. It's a level playing field, everyone is treated the same - whether they be friends of mine, friends of friends of mine or someone no one knows. I dont say these things to be awkward and put friendships in jeopardy, I say it to keep this forum a quality information resource.

If you're a regular poster that contributes real content then a link in your sig to your website is fine. Otherwise, overt promotion is not. You can't just drop a commercial in Novedades or Televisa for free, nor rent the big flashing billboard outside the bullring. Why should here be any different?

I dont seek any monetary gain here, it's intended to be an expat community forum. So why should I allow others to do so, while I pay the bills and invest countless hours promoting and upgrading the forum?

If anyone has any better ideas how to handle this, obviously controversial, issue then I'm all ears. I could open it up to anyone can promote their business, I could seek to monetise it myself. I dont think anyone would like either of those two options.

    So what do I do?

    Hey Stevie,
of course I remember you. I remembered the name cancunvibe and thought it might be you. You always looked after me at Terrasta :)

Please dont take my post personally, i'ts not intended that way, see my post above for a more detailed explanation.

I wont be able to make it for the dinner tomorrow, we're at the mother in laws tomorrow night. I might well check it out in the New Year though.
