We are planning on taking just a carryon suitcase each.....can we pack our suntan lotion? We use those 6oz aerosols....just curious if anyone has taken those in their carryons before.

    TIA

Here's what I found...According to the permission for carry-on liquids and gels announced by the United States Transportation Security Administration, airline passengers are allowed to carry small amounts of liquids and gels in their carry-on luggage. But they have to make sure that each of the bottles contains less than 3 oz (100ml) of liquid, and all the bottles are placed in a 1 quart sized zip top transparent plastic bag. Such bag will be handed to be inspected. But please notice that each traveler is allowed only one such bag.
The following liquids are strictly restricted to less than 3 oz in carry-on luggage (in alphabetic order):
Lip gels such as Carmex or Blistex
Liquid lip glosses or other liquids for lips
Liquid bubble bath including gel or liquid filled
    Liquid foundations
Liquid, gel or spray perfumes and colognes
    Liquid sanitizers
    Liquid soaps
    Liquid mascara
Make up removers or facial cleansers
    Mouthwash
    Nail Clippers
    Nail Files
    Nail polish and removers
Besides, the United States Transportation Security Administration has reported a list of countries that are currently harmonized with this regulation for carrying liquids through the checkpoint. Please check the following list and make sure your target country is listed, or else, you'd better not travel with liquid.
These country include: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Brazil, Canada, Cape Verde, China, Cook Islands, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Fiji, Finland, France, French Polynesia, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Marshall Islands, Malaysia, Maldives, Mauritius, Mexico, Micronesia, Morocco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Korea, Romania, Serbia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tunisia, Ukraine and the United Kingdom.

we're also gonna try and take just carry on only. We've done it before but that was back before all these restrictions. I also understand these items must be in a clear quart size zip lock bag, 1 each per passenger.

Good luck with only having a carry on, we could never do it. If you plan on using the specialty restaurants guys have to wear long pants and regular shoes, no sandals. Not to mention a gallon of suntan lotion, and aloe and moisturizer. We also bring back bottles of liquid beverages which can’t be put in the carry on if you have a transfer flight.

We have watched lots and lots of items being taking by security at the airport. I guess we are not as brave as others; otherwise you have to buy all the stuff in Mexico.

If you are not staying very long, the carry on would work great. You can always buy the liquid stuff you need when you get there. Our last trip we stayed 16 days, no way could we do a carry on. Terry

We did five days in march with a carry on each. Didn't take anything over 3 oz in the bags. You can try it, The worse that willhappen is they will take it and throw it away.FYI we had our swim suits on under our travel clothes. Saves room in the carry on and you dont have to wait for a room to change. Also wife had a very large purse as her second item.

Thanks guys.....appreciate the replies. We are only staying for 4 nights so I thought we could get away with one carryon each. I've decide not to chance it and get hung up at security. We'll just throw all of our lotions, soaps, and shampoo in a checked bag and be done with it. Cant believe tomorrow at this time we'll be on a plane to Cancun. Cant wait to meet my Cancuncare amigoes and have a good time. Thanks again to Steve and everyone for all the advice on this forum.....what a great resource!!

    See everyone this weekend!

The last time we went and had carry-on's only, I didn't take a purse with me on the trip. I use my pool bag for my 2nd bag (my purse type bag). It worked great, I put my travel docs, wallet and ect.... in it. I will do the same this time and use that bag also for my 1 Quart size 3 oz. bottle bag.
I'll see if that will work.
We'll be there one week from today!! WOO HOO!!!
