We are taking our open water certifications tests for scuba and have to travel to Playa three days in a row. We've been quoted $100 return for the two of us each day by the dive shop ($300 total) I'm hoping to find something a little cheaper or even renting a car. Any words of advice? Thanks so much! Cheap transportation Back in February we took the bus to Playa De Carmen. It cost $5 per person each way. So 3 days return for 2 is about $60. Just take the city bus to the big bus depot. Go right in to the depot and ask for a return ticket to Playa de Carmen. Easy as that. I hope this helps.
Did the same the bus is the cheapest and easiest way to go! Take the bus dowtown to the bus depot I think the station is ASUR? Is that right? Ask at the front desk then you hop on a large greyhound type bus. It is still a long drive especially when you are going 3 days in a row?
When we went to Cancun 2 years ago we rented a car... it cost $22/day +gas... might be a better deal of $ versus time on the bus.
We didn't mind the ride. It's not like you stopped a bunch of times. It was straight through. AND after a few stories I have heard from people I know who rented cars and got stopped by the POLICIA for no reason? You know how it goes. NOT worth the risk
