Ok...so heres the story. Roger and I would love to go back to the BBG for our last (basically) trip to Cancun for a while. We are going to start trying to have another child at some point this year...(very scary for me :shock: ) and decided to go to Cancun for one last hoorah! If it was up to Roger and I we would be back at the BBG in a minute. However, Roger's brother and his wife HATED the resort and the things (games & sexual overtones) that went on at the resort. So, with that being said we have to decide on another hotel because they are coming with us this year. It will be Me & Rog, 4 of his best friends, Rog's brother and wife and my best friend and her husband. We all are in our 30's and love to party and have a good time...ALWAYS!!!! So here is my dilema. We don't know what hotel to pick. A couple of folks have given me valuable advice on some of the hotels but wanted to see if anyone else could offer any more insight. Basically what we are looking for: Daily entertaining activities around the pool (drinking games, silly games, tequilla v-ball, something to make us laugh) Good entertainment staff to do all of the above Decent atmosphere in the evening. Good bar to pre-game at before we head to the clubs. Decent food. We are not picky (well kinda) but I can always find something that I like and if there is only one thing...then I guess that is what I am eating all week So...here are our choice: Barcelo Tucancun Avalon Grand Royal Solaris Oasis Cancun We have stayed at the OC before and really enjoyed it and know that it is geared toward our style. But...I have been reading some reviews on TA and A LOT of them (even the people who loved their trip) mentioned something about all the flooding of the hallways, rooms, toilets, etc. which makes me very nervous. I don't need a 5* room by any stretch of the imagination. But I also don't want to wake up to an inch of water or worry about my drunk a$$ falling in the hallways at night coming home. So, any one of these hotels that you can shed light on...please do so. Thanks! Bridget
stay away from the oasis cancun... go to trip advisor and look at the pictures... we are staying at the tucancun this year. and i would say the others are pretty comparable... maybe the avalon...
Thanks Apple! Yeah, I know. I saw the pictures on TA...and that is what scared me. I showed them to my husband last night and that kind of changed his mind as well. I just wonder since it will be 5 months before we get there...there might be a chance that the majority of those things will be fixed. Or that just could be my wishful thinking. Thanks Apple!
to be honest i wouldnt chance it. i say go for the tucancun! we shall let you know how it is when we get back. they have free mini bars
Hmmm...free mini bars. That is great. I told Rog last night that we would have to pack one of those soft coolers to take wtih us for beer & water in our room.
not at the tucancun... or the barcelo costa has them as well. (roughly same price, close to bbg and really nice)
Have you looked into the Golden Parnassus? I have heard a lot of good about it, and its adults only without the "adult" tone of the BBG. That was our first choice for our upcoming trip, until we decided to go to Tulum instead for the majority of our trip.
I think you might like the Riu, Bridget. Not only do the rooms have mini bars but they also have alcohol dispensers that are part of the AI. Definitely avoid the Oasis like apple says. Sounds like it has gone down hill.
