    Hi,
Does anyone know of nice all-inclusive hotels in the Riviera Maya that would offer lower prices for locals?
    Thanks!

Check with David Phelps, travelingdavidp@yahoo.com He would know or be able to find them pretty quickly and has gotten me a deal or two over the years.

The Parnisus (I can never spell that right) hotels have had special rates if you provide proof of residence. But I have not seen them during high season, which is now.

It's not all inclusive but you can also check with cancunbrian@yahoo.com as he manages a bunch of units at the Salvia, nearly all of which are elegantly remodeled.

    Good luck Jen.

I recently saw Catalonia hotels and Secrets Maroma Beach advertising discounts for locals...but still not cheap. Just call hotels directly and see what they can do for you.

    Thanks peeps,
Most of the hotels I called are still expensive, the cheapest was Blue Bay Esmerelda and they quoted $1000 pesos per person per night.
    I'l try David thanks.

I found a cheap/sneaky way to take a vacation in Cancun for people that live here. First you have to identification from the USA or Canada, you need to be over 30, and married or living together. The trick is that your identification needs to show a matching last name and/or address in the US or Canada. The other thing is that you will need to go to a timeshare or vacation club presentation, which is a drag, but the main reason that the vacation is so cheap. Anyway, I have done this twice already in the past year. I went to the Gran Porto Real in Playa del Carmen for 6 days, all inclusive for my wife and I and 2 kids for only $499 total and we went to the Grand Coco Bay in Playa for 6 days for only $399. We did not buy anything at the presentations, which last around 3 hours, and then spent the rest of the week enjoying a great vacation.

It's not in the Riviera Maya nor would I consider it particularly 'nice' but we recently stayed at Sea Adventure Puerto Juarez. Cost for one night was 700 pesos per adult 200 pesos for Dani. We mainly went for the waterpark which I'm sure Alex would love.

I'd also consider holding on until after April 14th or thereabouts, that's when all the prices come down following high season.

I've been to Sandos Caracol twice before (in 2009 and 2010) for $600 per person per night. I think they only have that deal during certain seasons.
