Not HZ (Hotel Zone)? Maybe try Puerto Morelos or one of the newer places out by Puerto Juarez. Or did you mean downtown Cancun? If so there's not really any hotels I'd recommend for a longish term vacation downtown.
Thanks Steve and yes I was referring to Hotel Zone. Found Ramada Cancun City and it looked pretty good but I will research your recommendations.
There are plenty of hotels downtown, just I personally think they are not the best places to stay to 'enjoy yourself' on vacation. I don't think you'll find much in the way of socialising, maybe that's not important to you though. Many are business type hotels where people stay for one or two nights others are used as a base by tourists who go off and explore and just use the hotel as a place to sleep.
