    1. My wife and I are looking for a new place to visit in January. Usually we do a cruise, but we are thinking of Cancun at an all inclusive. However, I am worried that the weather and the gulf water temperature may be too cool to enjoy. What do you all say to that?

    2. Also, is mid January a bad time to go, I expect it to be off season so fewer people, but will things just shut down?

    3. Is there a best location? I have read of a mall that people like, hotels on the gulf and on the other side of the island. Closer to the airport has been said to be good.

    4. Finally, what about the airport. Are shuttles to the hotel available or do I need to pay a bunch for a private shuttle or taxi. I read somewhere a fee of $50.00 per person for a private shuttle. That sounds high to me. What are the options.

    thanks!

We went to Cancun for the first time last January & had a great time. Weather was mostly sunny with mid-80s in the day & 70s at night. We stayed at Golden Parnassus last year & are trying out Temptation this year. Nothing wrong with GP but wanted something more lively.

    Cancun is a great choice!

January is still warm with an ave high temp of 83F. Here is more info about Cancun in January.

Private airport transfers are the way to go, but the price is only $55 for up to 3 people (not per person).

We consider January to be high season in Cancun. Prices are a little higher, nothing is closed during this time.

There are a couple of malls in the hotel zone, but as far as hotels are concerned there are many to choose from, just depends on your budget and what you want. As far as location, again depends on what is important to you (close to the clubs and restaurants, great beaches, or calm surf). Close to the airport? All of Cancun Hotel Zone hotels are within 15 - 25 minutes of the airport.

Let us know what you are looking for and we'll help point you in the right direction.

"On" season starts in December and I have been there four times at that time of the year......fantastic! April and May are awesome but I know that January would be great too! Here is some info on Cancun, in general and then some weather averages and current conditions......watch as it gets closer. No worries, you will love it. It is my favorite destination in the world due to the great weather, wonderful people, great beaches and fantastic food!

    Enjoy !

Been over 10 times in January and only had unfavorable weather(cool, windy, rainy) maybe once. Going back January 2014. Last season the pool and ocean felt warmer in January than it did on our November trip.

    Perfect time to go

Loved January and Temptations - our first time this past January and it was great - couple of rainy days which gave you a break from the sun.

I liked Cancun in January, there is a lot going on in the lead up to Christmas and just after the new year. Although I'm not sure if this was because it was 2012. (21 december 2012)

The area is great any time of year IMO.
