Just wondering if there was ever a thought of creating a chat room on the site where people online could chat? Would that be an expensive addition to the site?

I tried it years ago (maybe 8). Technology wasn't as advanced then and cancuncare was on a different forum platform, but we ended up with people impersonating others (including me) and the room was empty most of the time.

With this forum platform it's easier and add ons exist that make it less susceptible to fake users (probably free or cheap), but my priority is to update the software to the next version first, which offers more functionality and is more mobile friendly. Once that's done I'll check out the options for chat rooms.

    Hey Steve,

Another feature I have seen on some sites is a "like" button, I guess along the lines of facebook. Users that have "liked" a post are listed below it.

It's a nice way of quickly acknowledging a funny post or a post with info you found useful or appreciate in some way without "quoting" it and posting something yourself.

It can also be useful to you as a mini-poll.

You can go ahead and "like" this suggestion if you want...lol.

Yeah, the like button is a feature from version 4 as is used at cancunswingers.com. I'm running version 3 here so we will need a major upgrade to add it in.

The upgrade is not an easy process since it involves converting the database with 422,000 posts and 22,000 members that need porting across. It's time consuming and not without risks of losing everything and starting afresh if I mess up.

I do intend to attempt the upgrade at some point, but while Jannet is still incapacitated due to her injury and I'm playing house husband most of the day it will be a little while yet.
