Hello to our fellow Canadians here, need some help, where do you get your travel insurance? as we normally take multiple trips outside our province and country we go for the 15 day annual multi trip from RBC Insurance, but at $260 kinda seems high... so where do you get your travel insurance, what type of plan, and what do you pay? Thanks everybody Paul & Christina
Try President's choice. The single trip comprehensive was $204 for our Sep 09 trip. Not sure about the year multi-trip comprehensive though. I have seen cheaper rates but it is a buyer beware thing in trip insurance...can be very restrictive on the reasons and what they reimburse. We had to use the insurance to cover our (my work) cancelled trip last May and not a problem at all with PC.
Hi...being fellow Albertans I thought RBC was high too...our work benefits cover travel now...but you might want to try the AMA...although I think they use RBC too but it may be cheaper if you are members...
We actually called our credit card company, and had them add the feature onto our MasterCard. It cost us $150. and that covers you for 12 months... flight cancellation, trip interruption, baggage, injury, death & dismemberment and all that good stuff! It will cover the card holder, spouse, and mambers of your immediate family (ie kids) IF you pay for your trip with that card. There was also another option to have the medical coverage as well as the cancellation for a higher price. We don't travel very often, but that was cheaper than paying the insurance through RBC, or any other providers we saw, and will cover Tony's flight to England in the spring as well...couldn't beat it! We had to add the feature onto the card BEFORE we paid for the trip though, so as long as you haven't paid yet, you should be good to go. Hope this helps!
We seem to get a pretty good rate at the CAA for Bluecross. We have used it a few times going to the caribbean.
Travel Insurance I buy RBC travel insurance that covers all four family members multiple trips all year; trips of 15 days or less and only pay $153. We had to use it a few years ago when a family member got sick in Cancun and the service was excellent. I would double check with RBC and find out why your rate is so high.
