We will be at the Golden April 13-20 and will be with a group of 12. Some of the group have small children and will be needing to call home and check on them. What is the best and cheapest way to do this. They have looked into a calling card but are not sure if the resort has pay phones or if the resort charges for using the room phone.
We just used our cell phone when we were down there in January. The colst was like .50 a minute something like that so it wasnt to bad.

If you have a portable device you can purchase wifi access for a reasonable price for the week and stay in touch via email, fb, etc.. There are also some good wifi voip (voice over internet protocol) apps available that enable free calling over the internet.
If you have a smart phone download the app called Magic Jack. You can call Canada and the US from anywhere in the world at no charge. All you need is a wifi connection. Just make sure you have your phone on airplane mode first. Works likes a a damn. My niece just got back from Europe. Called home every night
