Can anyone chime in with their experience with Cablemas since they switched to using fiber optic and went digital? Do you have any issues with internet/phone dropouts, and if so, how often does it occur?

I ask because I'm currently on Telmex, and for the past 3 weeks my internet has been dropping out non-stop, at least several times a day, and my internet speed has dropped from 4mb to about 1mb when it does work. Also, as of Saturday our phone line has dropped out too! We called them on Monday to ask if they could send someone to fix it, they said they'd replace the modem and send someone that day or the day after. So Tuesday comes to an end and I call, asking what's happening and now they say it's an issue they can fix from their end (doubt it) and it'll be fixed by today. The issue still isn't fixed and we've called them again today and now they say we need to go into the office to complain and cancel/get an ETA on fixing it!

OK rant aside, I'm seriously considering switching to Cablemas, as they seem to be making an effort to improve their service (we were with them prior to going digital, then switched to Telmex due to continuous dropouts). I do require a reasonably stable internet connection since I work out of my home office and almost everything I do requires it...

I used to have cablemas and never had any problems, when I moved I went with Telmex and recently at about 10:50 pm everyday the internet stops working and doesn't come back. When I get home from work I switch my pc on and it's fine again, then 10:50 ish comes and bang, out!

I know one person on here has Axtel and has nothing but good things to say about it.

Cablemas is ******. Their service is garbage. Plus if you work late at night (like I do) they basically cut the Internet bettwen certains hours.

I have been on Cablemas for many years and they are better today than they were 7 years ago. My problem is with their integrity. When you do have a problem, you cannot believe a word they tell you about the cause of your problem or when they will come to fix it.

Matkirk, I've noticed mine dropping out from about 7pm and it won't come back until sometime in the morning... When it does work it's about one quarter of the speed it used to be prior to the problems. Tonight I had to use my cellphone connection to do a bunch of work and it's slow as heck!

Perceived beauty, that sounds a lot like what's happening with me and Telmex right now lol... I think it's just what happens in Mexico in general!

I would consider giving Axtel a shot but I don't think they're offering the same internet speeds that Telmex and Cablemas are offering. I also hear that Cablemas might be offering 20mbps broadband sometime soon, but I'd take that with a pinch of salt...

It is usually really great but like everything else here it isnt 100% consistant but for half the price of Telmex it is great.

OK so it turns out that the reason for our internet/phone problems was that the next door neighbour's dog was on our roof chewing on the cables... Only in Mexico huh? I've decided to stick with Telmex for now and wait to see who comes out with 20mbps internet first. I suspect it's going to be Cablemas but only time will tell...
