Have any other Cablemas internet users noticed a dramatic slowdown over the last few days in speed? TelMex seems to be about normal, however I haven't been able to get better than 0.5-ish on my (supposed) 2mb Cablemas connection for the last few days. If other Cablemas users would please post your speedtest.net results here I can determine if its a Cablemas system issue or just my neighborhood.
Yes, same story here in Playa del Carmen. Since the week before Christmas, our DL speed has been roughly halved. Our UL speed is still the same though, which is the bottleneck for my work, so I haven't raised too much of a fuss. We've called twice and got different stories: one that a user spike for the holidays is hogging bandwidth (but kids are back in school today right??) and the other being that they are performing maintenance and/or replacing several of the main pipes. The truth? Beats me. If our UL goes below 0.10 though, you can bet I'll raise a lot of hell for all of us
Humm... well thanks for reporting.. it looks pretty sporadic if Cancun is slow, PM is good, and the Playa again is slow... I tend to think that maybe the Cancun and Playa systems are over extended, and PM is good since their are so few customers.... I guess I'll call and complain.. for all the good it will do.
i haven't done a speed test, but i have had periods where internet was so slow that i thought it had gone down...only to look at modem and see everything lit up like normal. i unhooked modem for about 30 minutes one day and it was back to normal speed when i plugged it back in. it's been a hit or miss problem for me this week, but not too much of an issue...yet.
This is the difference between cable Internet and Dedicated Subscriber Line Internet. As the cable network gets saturated performance slows to a crawl. This does not happen with DSL.
and it wouldn't happen with the cable either if they had proper infrastructure. It's not as if we have "uncapped" modems or anything... if there isn't enough bandwidth in an area for everyone to get close to their full advertised speed during high usage times you shouldn't keep adding new customers. Its the same as overselling timeshares.... :icon_evil: but as with all of the services here.. its a take it or leave sort of thing... :icon_sad:
Just for reference my Telmex (I hate Carlos Slim, yet give him all my money) Infinitum has been down for a grand total of 3 hours since 10 days after Hurricane Wilma. I hate Telmex, but they do the job. Not that we don't sometimes have slowing too, we do, but not lately, lately our internet has been screaming along.
