:flagcanada: Hello there, I'm very happy to have stumbled upon this website! I'm moving to Cancun in early May. Can you please give me suggestions for a good internet service provider the fastest and most reliable cable or ASDL provider... I'm assuming they would also supply TV and phone service as well. Thank you very much!

    There are two main choices:
Telmex | Servicios de Telefonía e Internet | Casa | Negocio | Empresa
We use these, we're supposed to have a 20Mb fibre optic connection but it never goes above 7Mb. After literally scores of calls and a visit by a technician we're told it's normal and there's nothing they can do. Cost is 1000 pesos a month for Internet and phone. We use SKY for TV which is separate.

    The other option is Cablemas.

Also 20Mb a month for 1000 pesos includes cable tv and phone. Have never tried them myself.

Anybody getting a fast connection with Cablemas? I might have to consider switching.

I'll chime in and hope it helps.

I had telmex and was very dissatisfied. I believe we were paying for 2mb and it was always well under and choppy. We also had Telmex at my work and paid for 6, but were seldom over 3. As Steve, despite multiply calls and a couple service visits, they did absolutely nothing to correct.

Recently in my home I switched to Cablemas and an very pleased for the last 6 months or so. I pay for 10Mb and am seldom under 9.5.

My cost for the bundle package with digital and HD cable as well is 550mxp per month.

When I cut my Telmex internet, I actually save money as they are ridiculously over priced and under delivered.

Based on my satisfaction, we just switched at work to Cablemas as well.

When we were looking for service, we found that Cablemas WAS NOT available in our area so we went with Telmex for phone and internet.

Make sure to ask if Cablemas is available when you're looking for a place to live.

Currently I have Cablemas - and its service is CRAP! I pay around 900pesos a month for TV, phone and Internet.
The Tv signal keeps dropping out - they say it is the channel fault , not Cablemas!
The phone will NOT allow any 1800 numbers to be made - which makes it impossible to call businesses as they do not usually show an alternate landline number on their websites!
I pay a lot for an alleged 10Mbps - WHICH I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED! For a couple of months it did teeter around 9Mbps, but not it has dropped to an unbelievable 0.3 to 0.5 Mbps! Yes, folks, that is NOT a spelling mistake - ZERO POINT FIVE Mbps!!! - and like every Mexican business, they first DENY they are at fault (apparently it is learned from childhood to deny any or all responsibility for anything) and then after having copies of my speed tests shoved under their noses, say it is a" 'temporary' malfunction in your area".
My advice to everyone - DO NOT TRUST CABLEMAS. THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY, GIVE WOEFULLY BAD SERVICE AND NEVER, NEVER REFUND YOU.

    pat2,

Why don't you trip on over to Cablemas on Chichen Itza and immediately ask to speak with Roberto Rodriguez. He is in the office immediately on the left as you walk in the door. He will at least give it 100% effort.

I pay under $600 per month for kick ass internet and basic cable TV service, plus the international pkg. I have dozens of channels plus dozens more of music.

I don't think I have anything special with the internet, in terms of payng for extra high speed, but I consisently get above 9.0 mbps for download and about 1.0 upload.

My biggest bitch with Cablemas is that they took US ABC & NBC channels off the International pkg a year or so ago. Then they took off the American Network which was CBS programming. They had some BS reason for doing that.

Also we had perfectly good digital boxes that they forced us to trade in for some POS boxes that I don't know a single person who thinks they are even as good as the old digital boxes. They are like lifting a cheap piece of equipment vs a heavier one that is obviously built with more quality. The new ones are just junk.

Do me a favor and don't mention any names, just get in to see Roberto. His English is sufficiently good to converse with him and he with you. If you don't see him in that office and see a med height very slender guy, looks more white than Mexican, with his hair cut short, just walk up to him and go from there.
