Is there any place close by that sells Canadian cigarettes?

I think Steve mention that smokes are around $2.50 a pack down there. May as well buy them there if they are available.

Thanks Jim, our duty free is still pretty expensive compared to yours. And our smokes taste different than yours, as well, so it would be good to know if Canadian cigarettes are available.

On a side note, I always thought it was neat, from a smokers perspective, that Player's Tobacco, has a cigarette with a blend of Canadian and American tobacco. It's called "Special Blend". Seemed like a neat testament to the friendship between our two countries.

Hmmmm.. I wonder what a blend of Jack Daniels and "Newfie Screech" would taste like...

(Newfie Screech - A type of rum unique to Newfoundland. Originally imported from Jamaica in barrels that were also used for molasses, giving Screech it's unique flavour.)

Didn't see any Canadian cigs in Mexico, but should've bought some at duty free on the way down for $55 a carton. I think that might be your best bet.

that would be a unique blend thats for sure, we have a Marlboro special blend, wonder if that is similiar........also even the american cigarettes they sell in cancun are not the same as they sell in the states, they are processed over seas somewhere, a bit of a different lighter taste, but after a gut full of drinks i could smoke a palm tree and not know the difference...funny quick note, a guy i met on my trip last year, Old Man Joe, brought down two cartons of the slide out packs of player or some canadian cigarette, and i had brought my american marlboro lights, we ended up trading a carton for a carton as he liked the marb lights and l liked the canadian blend....maybe just cuz it was something different ...

Nope, if you want Canadian brands you will have to bring them with you.

Yes smokes are cheap in Mexico - if you like strong local versions or "knock offs" of American brands

Faros is the biggest brand name that you can find almost anywhere in Mexico, they are available in 5 strengths/flavors - Clasica, Morena de Fuego, Furia Tropical, Suspiro Esmerelda and Terciopelo Amarillo. Some other popular brands are Raleigh, Boots and Montana
