I saw a big banner hanging from a building on Tulum Ave (across from the Banamex/city hall and next to a Prestamos Dinero) that says British Pub. Not sure if this is new, but I do not recall seeing it before. Seems like some of the locals/posters here might like to check it out.

Yeah Tori, I saw that - "The Black Pub" I think it's called - looks really cool!

Haven't seen the one on Tulum - I hope they will do food and full English breakfasts and proper pints and pork scratchings and roast dinners and pool tables and fruit machines etc. etc. etc. and not just put a sign up saying British Pub and sell bottles of corona...:icon_biggrin:

After being here 7 years I have seen quite a few British Pubs come and go, none so far have pulled it off anywhere close but there's always a first.

    Fancy a recce Mat?

Yeah, too many people do a half-arsed attempt then wonder why it doesn't work.

It was like that Irish pub and the yaxichilan - just cause you paint a building green doesn't make it an Irish pub...

Mat and I tried it out last night. Sorry to say it's not up to much.

Two dodgy looking girls (large breasts, 5 inch stilettos) outside tempting people in. We went in for one drink, they have a terrace area and an inside bar. The inside area had 100+ decibel dance music going on so we sat outside, we were the only customers there.

Things got off to a bad start when Mat asked for two pints of lager and a bag of Cheese n Onion and they had no idea what he was talking about.

Didnt see a food menu at all (doubt they have one) but beers were the usual Corona, Modelo etc at 25 pesos each, you can buy a bucket of ten for $125 which I suppose is not a bad deal but we didnt want to stay long. About the only hint of anything British was a couple of pictures on the wall that had a Union Jack featured in them.

Later we went to the new Black Pub opposite the Bullring. Place was packed with smart and trendy people and they served a nice draft beer (Modelo I think) in pint glasses. Food menu had a couple of English type options, roast beef sandwich, lamb etc. Mat ordered a free portion of olives drenched in Worcesterhire Sauce, served in a Martini glass which he ate with a cocktail stick.

I know Mat is posh but I hope he never goes to a real British pub where I'm from, probably wouldn't leave alive after that kind of behaviour.

Yeah British pub fail and olives fail as well!

I only got them cause I was dying for a ciggie and had to eat something, plus they were the cheapest thing on the menu...didn't realize they would come in a towering martini glass...:icon_lol:

Let's pool a few $$ and let Mat run a decent place for you Brits. I am not even a fan of the food but would support it if I knew the players and had a few quid invested.

And nothing like eggs and cold beans for breakfast.

I'll be up for that - you and Bundy can be in charge of taking care of the zetas for me so I don't end up in the ruta 4 with my head missing...:ernaehrung015::bash:
