Hey everyone, just wondering about bringing Cubans from Canada into Mexico. My flight is direct, so I don't have to worry about the American issue, but when I land into Mexico, would there be any issue? I've heard you are allowed a certain amount (30 cigars) but I just wonder if the customs will hassle me for bringing in like 10? Thanks
Why not just buy it in Mexico? The price is probably a lot cheaper then in Canada and no worries about the quantity you bring with you.
Just because if you buy from the people who sell them on the beach, you run the risk of getting fake ones (in fact, probability says it is) Plus, I'm not sure of the prices, but at the airport you may be able to get good deals.
I was just there in March and there is a walk in humidor/glass booth thing at Wal-Mart with a woman selling cigars. They are 150 - 200 pesos each. Sure there is a box deal as well. The conversion was 12.1 per dollar when I was there so not sure what you pay in Canada. I thought about it when I left to take some home this time for friends. I was the last one getting on the plane and the Mexican guy stopped me and practically anal probed me. Not sure what he would have done if found but American security has yet to open my bags. This is our 5th time in Cancun area in last 15 months so I thought I might get stopped eventually and lose the cigars so I don't buy them. There are plenty here in S. Florida if your willing to pay but again they could be the Dominican with Cuban bands. Bus to wal-mart is 8.5 pesos each way and your there in 5 minutes so it isn't hard to go and buy.
I don't smoke, but allways bring a few back home for friends every trip. Even if they are counterfit habanos', as long as the seed of origin is Cuban, the thality of the cigar is just the same a a cigar grown and rolled in Cuba. The beach guys need the business ask for Roberto by the pier where the excursions go from, he wilL give you a discount if you buy in quanity/more then one box!
