Just back from our trip 3/27-4/3 and felt compelled to write. We have been to mexico 15-20 times and Temptation 4 times previous. Never have we seen the mosquito problem so bad. Usually part of our people watching at the pool includes seeing the guys mostly who did not use enough sun screen. This year, that was replaced by looking at the people who were at the pool who had huge bite and welts all over them from partying the night before. Our last night there we ate at the Tex Mex and it was really horrible. The waiters were bringing around spray to the tables. We stuck it out so as not too be rude but everyone else who came in and attempted to eat left. I have been on back woods deer hunts in the thickest of terrain and seen fewer mosquitoes than we had this time. Been home a little over 1 wk now and bites have finally healed. I know it is a humid climate that supports mosquitoes but the resort obviously is lacking in any sort of spray or prevention or containment. Just beware and pack some bug spray along with the sun screen.
Thanks for the tip, will pack the spray. Desire RM last October was the worst I've ever seen mosquitos. Big red welts indeed!
Bites that take a week to heal are usually not mosquito's. hopefully not bed bugs last year there were these very small black flies around the quiet bar at night. the bites would go away after a day , then come back a day later and haunt you for a week. hopefully they subside me and DEET don't get along
Picking up some Off Skintastic Lotion just to be safe,, its smell,, OK ,, sort of ,, just don't lick it,, kind of hard ,, a lot of licking going on down there
bed bugs would be very bad! but I always check. im a mosquito magnet! even when everyone else says they haven't seen one at all. and yes they last a good week with me.
last Oct is was random ,, the odd person would walk by just covered in welts that would not go away , and there spouses were not touched,, the buggers were very selective. Sand fleas can be bad too,,, never see them but the bites hurt the next day
we actually thought bed bugs as well. My wife works for the school system and is very familiar with bedbugs. We checked the mattress etc... It was clean.' Yes it is hard to be sexy when you smell like Back Woods OFF
Deet..........a drop or 2 on your clothing usually works very well. We've not had mosquito issues but have had problems with sand fleas and sea lice......which aren't actually lice at all.
